New year resolutions..... Sort of!

I've decided there are things I'd like to have a go at in the new year (when I'm back on my feet again)

Different card folds
Stencilling
Brayer techniques
Watercolour backgrounds
Altering a frame
Altering a box
Complete my board book.
I'll probably add to this list next year!

Oh...and I'd love to swap an ATC with someone!!!

What do you want to try next year?

New home card

Here is a card for someone who is moving. I'm not sure whether to stamp "new home" onto it, it might make it cluttered.

I've used bright colours as it's cold and wintery, and I wanted a spring feel for new beginnings.

I really enjoyed making this!

My own challenge ..... 25 tags for christmas in 25 days!

Well, i am bored. Cant sit for long, an need something to keep me occupied. Inspired by Tim holtz (www.timholtz.com) ive decided to start my challenge to myself of 25 days of Christmas Tags.

Being quite quick to do, and topical for the month, i thought it would be quick to do!

So, heres my first one :

Die cut a tag shape, then just the top of another, to give me the shape i wanted.

Embossed with a christmas folder, and smooshed with distress ink.

Distressed the sides.

Added the date, angel and star

Extra bling added.

Signed and dated the back. Really enjoyed this, hopefully they will get better as i can stay up for longer :)

Back!!!!

My op went well, ive been recovering. I finally could sit for a tiny while and made this:

My first shaped card, my first charm card. First time ive used jewels! Not my fave, but made for the nurse who has been injecting anti coagulant in me daily as i recover from an op to remove cancer. I couldnt sit up for long, feel a bit embarrassed that i couldnt do better with the limited supplies i had to hand

I joined a challenge!!!!

Im on a forum (homecraftsforum.com) and its really friendly. A challenge has been announced and I've joined it!
Im really nervous but it was fun to do! This is what i put in:

I chose falling leaves as my subject. The background was embossed in my cuttle bug, then inked, then spritzed with cosmic shimmer then given a brush with some eyeshadow (yes, really) the flower is 4 layers and the sticker was from an atc kit.

I really enjoyed doing it. The challenge was : what makes you smile/animals and something else! Anyway, here it is! I hope it wins even a small recognition :)

60th male birthday card

Here is a card that i made today for my hubbys friend who is going to be 60. I find male cards hard, so this was a challenge! I used two embossing folders from the chronology series and an atc card for the sentiment. I hope you like it as much as my hubby does!!

And here is my table before i started - take note that there is chocolate ;)

The table all set up. The sponge is a cheap washing up sponge.

The result. It looks better in real life!
I really enjoyed it, being quick, easy, and effective!

New gadget !!!! Cuttlebug!!!

Yes, i have a new goodie!!! Reg (my husband) bought me a cuttlebug. He got it off ebay. Id never used one before and its soooo easy!! Ive been using an ancient wizard, but this so simple!! Im really pleased with it. Here it is:

Ive yet to learn all the different "sandwiches" for the plates, but from what little ive done, its brilliant!!!

Apparently, theres a new model now, sleeker, and more stylish, but looks dont bother me, its what it does that matters :)

Ill let you know how i get on !

Have you got a cuttlebug? Do you know any tips for a newbie?

Holiday haul!

This is what i came back from my holiday with:

Brads and paper flower set
Stamping mag and free christmas clear stamp set
Cutting board (bigger than my old one, which is helpful!)
Labels x 2 from ikea
Embellishments from the works
Crochet flower embellishments from the works.
I used the black paper from the embellishment packaging in my last atc!

The book was on the doormat when i got home. Its really good!

More experimenting - atc

Im back off my holiday!

I had withdrawal symptoms and felt the need to "do something" so, i fiddled! Ive made this atc. The experiment was with the background and embellishing.

So, i embossed the label with an embossing folder and my wizard, then i put ink on it with cotton wool and sort of "rubbed it in" (technical term, lol) then i did the flower (i think the flower needs further stuff doing to it yet!) i then added butterfly cut outs that my friend Jill gave me, after i dabbed them over a distress ink pad. Then i added a label (from ikea) that i cut up then distressed. Finally i added the word love, stamped on a piece of cut up packaging. Jill gave me the stamp, too!

I like it, though its a bit over done. It was a good trial! :)

Any suggestions to improve it? (Polite ideas only!)

ATC experiments

hello all! (im assuming people actually read this!)

I have been busy learning about backgrounds and fiddling with making booklets.

So, I saw on YouTube, a video where a lady had made a background by putting tea leaves on an ATC card and spraying them...

I had a go and here is the results - I used Echineacea Tea, so it smells nice too! made my hands purple, though :)

I put paint on another and using a straw, i blew it around the paper a bit. I did this as a child, it didnt quite work out as planned:

It doesnt look great does it? the one above is the Tea one, with the tea leaves removed, and being dried.

I also put an ATC on top of the tea one, and sandwhiched it:

I'm quite fond of this! I am going to use it in the ATC booklet I am making... results in another post... its still a work in progress!

Latest atc! "Autumn Butterfly"

We (hubby, his friend and me) went to Wildwood. While there, we saw a fantastic butterfly. Around us, it was very autumnal, the leaves are turning brown and the berries are out (ideas for my next atc methinks!) this was y inspiration for the atc below:

I hope you like it!!!

Atc recipients!! So far.....

I gave Sasha her atc last night!

And Reg's this morning!!!

As you can see - they were both pleased with their atc's! I love giving them out! No swaps yet though!

You can find out about sasha on facebook or Twitter (@Sasharemedies) and Reg on his site - www.regemental.co.uk

hello, good day and Welcome!

Hi all! this Blog is being used to show off my ATC cards. I am new to the world of ATC's and i'm really enjoying do them, and, rather than clutter up my facebook with them, I will put them here for all to see. Please comment (politely please!) and offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, I am more than ready to learn more! please remember im a beginner. I have only done 4 ATC's to date, so im still new! :)

The "Time Flies" one already has a home (with Sasha MacDonald, a Bach Flower practitioner)

The "make a wish" (with the Unicorn) also has just found a home with Maggie Langley, who runs Officehounds so thats good! :)

I am making these for fun, because I really enjoy it. I am a Tarot Reader and clairvoyant when im not having fun with these. You can find out about ATC's here:http://www.artist-trading-cards.ch/
